MEG Foundation - Vision and Mission

Meadow’s journey does not have
to be defined by suicide

Meadow’s struggle with mental health and ultimate suicide is indicative of a blind spot in the mental health and wellness community. A constantly changing environment, social stigma, limited resources and emerging technologies all present major challenges to parents, educators and mental health practitioners in being able to recognize and treat mental illness. The Meadow E. Goodman Foundation for Mental Health Awareness (MEG Foundation) was launched to help prevent suicide and to provide resources and intellegence towards underlying and undiagosed mental health disorders in teenagers.

Our Vision

The idea of creating a non-profit organization was first developed as a managing entity for “Meadowfest”, which was launched in August 24, 2024 as a music festival for mental health awareness. Greg Goodman, father of Meadow and founder of the MEG Foundation, worked with local area musicians and music professionals in development of the event and drew neatrly 1,000 attendees, raising $40,000 for two local mental health oriented organizations.

As successful as the innaugural event was, Greg recognized that launching a fundraiser as an individual was a blockade to corporate and larger organization donations in which an officially recognized, non-profit entity could provide assurances and tax receipts. Beyond holding the annual fundraiser, Greg and board memebers of the MEG Foundation sought council with other organizations that were providing support in the same space, which gave the organization vision on what could be achieved and truly needed more support.

Our Mission

The MEG Foundation’s mission is rooted in providing support and resources for initiatives that address teenage mental health challenges and promotion of suicide awareness. As a newly instituted 501(c)(3) (circa March 2025), the first year of the MEG Foundation will be focused on launching Meadowfest 2025 while developing the MEG Foundation Strategic Plan, a 3-year plan designed to prepare for and launch a number of core objectives of the foundation.
